DEPUTY MINISTER'S MAIN GOAL IS CES, BUT LAW SAYS THE GOAL IS THE EU

Deputy Minister of Economy Valeriy Muntiyan, who since recently has been generous in handing out comments, in an interview to UNIAN revealed for us that “the main goal is not so much the Customs Union, as the CES (Common Economic Space, ed.). There would be no sense for Ukraine to be left outside the limits of the present process…”

At the same time, in the Law of Ukraine “On principles of internal and external policies of Ukraine”, which was adopted in July, one of the basic principles of the foreign policy was set forth “the provision of the integration of Ukraine into the European political, economic and legal space with the goal of the acquisition of the membership in the European Union.” On the other hand, the Law does not say anything about the economic integration with countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Since it is not possible to combine the two such profound forms of integration, we will have to make a choice – to do it either à la Muntiyan or according to the Law.
