PRESIDENT IS AGAIN CONCERNED OVER PIPES

04.02.10

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, in the second letter to Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko, expressed his concern because of the lack of progress in resolving the issues on protection of interests of Ukrainian commodity producers . Just as in the first address, the President is worried first of all about the export of Ukrainian pipes and tubes to the Russian Federation.

V. Yushchenko in his letter confirms the supposition that the strange repeal of the anti-dumping duties on Russian made fertilizers for the period of 3 months was conducted by the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade in exchange of the quota for Ukrainian pipes and tubes . “As per Viktor Yushchenko’s conviction, such a “quasi-package” resolution of an issue on the protection of interests of national commodity producers is inadmissible, because this contravenes provisions of the anti-dumping legislation of Ukraine.”

“The President of Ukraine addresses the Prime Minister with the demand to undertake efficient measures to settle the issue of preservation of the presence of Ukrainian produce, especially its part with a high added value, on foreign markets, as well as carry out system-based, purposeful work aimed at the protection of the domestic market of Ukraine against unfair imports in full accordance with the mechanisms of the anti-dumping legislation of Ukraine and rules determined by the World Trade Organization.”
